We don't store your card, UPI PIN, or banking details. Ever.

What we collect (and what we don't)
We only ask for what we genuinely need to pour, pack, and ship your order — and to write back when you message us.
From you, directly: your name, phone number, email address, billing and shipping address, gifting notes, custom-candle preferences, and the messages you send us on email or WhatsApp.
From your payment: only a confirmation that the payment succeeded, the gateway's reference ID, and the amount. We never see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or banking credentials — those stay with the secure payment gateway.
From your visit: general technical breadcrumbs like IP address, device type, browser, and which pages you opened. This helps us spot a broken page, a confused checkout, or a sudden burst of bots.
How we use what you share
Plainly put — we use your information to:
- Pour, finish, pack, and ship your order to the right doorstep
- Send you order updates over email and WhatsApp (the good kind — "your candle is out for delivery")
- Reply to your messages and remember the context of past chats
- Improve a clunky page, a slow checkout, or a confusing custom-candle step
- Spot fraud, prevent misuse, and keep the studio safe
- Keep records that the tax office and applicable laws ask us to keep
We don't run retargeting ads, build secret profiles, or share you with marketing networks.
Who we share it with
Your information moves around only when it has to. The short, honest list:
- Courier & logistics partners — so your parcel knows where to land
- Payment gateway providers — to confirm your transaction
- Hosting & IT service providers — who store our site and database under contract
- Legal or government authorities — only when the law requires
We always share the bare minimum needed — your shipping label gets your address, not your message history.
Notes about handmade things
Because every candle is poured, painted, or sealed by hand, you'll find tiny variations — a wax dimple, a swirl of clay, a barely visible brushstroke. These are not defects; they are the fingerprints of a maker.
Product photos are taken in natural Varanasi light. Your screen, your light, and the candle in your hand may look ever so slightly different — and we think that's part of the magic.
About cookies (the digital kind)
We use a small number of cookies to remember things like your cart, your theme preference, and which pages misbehave. You can disable cookies in your browser anytime — the site will still work, though some niceties may forget themselves.
How we keep it safe
Your data sits on encrypted, access-controlled infrastructure. Only the people who need it (an order packer needs an address; a developer doesn't) can see it. We use TLS in transit, role-based access internally, and rotate credentials regularly.
No online system can promise perfection, but we take this seriously and update our defenses as the world changes.
How long we keep it
We hold on to your information for as long as it serves you (or the law). Order records stay for tax and audit periods. Marketing preferences stay until you unsubscribe. Casual support messages get archived after a reasonable time.
If you'd like us to delete what we hold, email artisanhouse.in@gmail.com and we'll act on it within 30 days, except where we're required to retain certain records.
