The monsoon does something strange to a room. Light gets softer. The air gets heavier. The whole house slows down. The scents we love in April feel suddenly too sharp; we want something rounder.
We have been pulling three candles off the studio shelf this season.
Mitti & Vetiver — the smell of the first rain on dry earth, with vetiver underneath like a held breath. Honest, grounding, a little bit nostalgic.
Sandalwood Cardamom — warm and dry, the way a wooden cupboard smells when you open it after months. It cuts through humidity beautifully.
Fig & Black Tea — fruit and tannin, the smell of a stained teacup at four in the afternoon. We light this one on grey days, with a book.
If you have not tried scented candles in the rains, this is the season to start. Damp air carries fragrance differently — softer, slower, fuller. It is the candle's favorite weather.
